2017 Executive Travel Trans-Tasman Team Announced
3 Mar 2017The 2017 Executive Trans-Tasman Test Series Team to compete against Australia at the Henderson Squash Club from 18-19 April has been announced.
The team will compete in two test matches against Australia on the 18th and 19th April in the hopes of claiming the Trans-Tasman title for the third year in a row.
All players will play both players in their age group from the Australian team. The only exception will be in the Under 19 Age Group where the Girls will only play 2 players from the opposing country. Nick Mita has also been announced as the second coach to take this team away.
Robbie Wyatt Coach of the team says “It’s my fourth year taking this team away and it is always a privilege to be appointed as a New Zealand coach. It was great to take the win over Australia in 2016 with a very close match up in the Gold Coast. It’s always an exciting occasion when we play Australia in any sporting event and having beaten them the last two times it makes it even more exciting. I am confident that this strong team of young kiwi players will put everything on the line and be set to take the win for us on the day.”
Shelley Kitchen High Performance Manager says “On behalf of Squash NZ, I would like to wish the 2017 Executive Travel Trans-Tasman Test Series Team the best of luck against Australia. All the players have been working tremendously hard and this is one of the highlights of the year for all our emerging players. The Trans-Tasman test series event is a stepping stone to represent NZ at junior and senior world championship events in the future”
